Honors & Awards

DeMolay offers numerous honors and awards to officially recognize outstanding service and achievement. These distinctions motivate members and volunteers while celebrating the very best of what DeMolay stands for.

Award

An achievement to be worked toward, a goal or recognition to be earned.
You can apply for an award.

Honor

Granted only by vote of the International Supreme Council without the recipient's prior knowledge.
You cannot apply for an honor.

Past Master Councilor's Meritorious Service Award
(PMC-MSA)

One of the most prestigious awards in all of DeMolay, personally designed by founder "Dad" Frank S. Land. This beautiful gold-colored medal is granted at no charge to Master Councilors who demonstrate exceptional leadership and program planning during their term.

Representative DeMolay Award

The highest self-achievement award an Active or Senior DeMolay can earn. Through honest self-evaluation of interests, skills, habits, and general knowledge, members set and achieve personal goals. "Dad" Land dreamed that every DeMolay would one day earn this distinction.

Merit Bars

Recognize outstanding participation and achievement in specific areas of chapter life. Recommended by the Awards Advisor and approved by the Advisory Council.

Membership Awards
  • #1 Lapel Pin – First new member recruited
  • Membership Merit Bar – First-line signer on 3 initiates
  • Founder's Membership Award – First-line signer on 5 initiates
  • Blue Honor Key – First-line signer on 10 new members (additional stars for each additional 10)
Degree of Chevalier

The highest honor an Active DeMolay (age 16+) or Senior DeMolay can receive. Conferred only by unanimous vote of the International Supreme Council for outstanding and marked service to DeMolay.

Cannot be applied for • Requires nomination by Advisory Council • Must be invested within one year of election
